Divya Kumar was born on 15 october 1986. His first Bollywood break was with Gujraj Singh for the film Tutiya Dil. He completed his schooling from Bhavan's A.H. Wadia High School. Divya has been singing since the age of eight, and even as a child he appeared in quite a few stage shows. Other than hindi he also sung songs for Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Kannad & Marathi.

His grandfather, Pandit Shivram, was a composer for many regional films in India. His father, Bhagwan Shivram, is a musician and has recorded with RD Burman, Jatin-Lalit and Himesh Reshamiyya.
